Selecting Textiles and Fabrics for a Room

Textile and fabric collection

Textiles are one of the easiest and visually attractive ways to add texture and color to a room. Textiles and fabrics give comfort, warmth and a finishing touch to any interior space. They can be used to improve the comfort of furniture and flooring, block natural light, insulate against heat or cold, create privacy and absorb noise.

When you choose a textile, your main consideration will be its function, for example curtains can be sheer or delicate whereas upholstery needs to be heavy and durable. Before choosing a fabric for any function, you should have a clear sense of the mood you are trying to create with your patterns and colors. Soft textiles like velvet and satin work best in formal spaces, coarse textiles like tweed and corduroy work best in casual spaces. Other factors to keep in mind are the wear and fade resistance and ease of repair and replacement of your textile.
